Event Traces of Liberation: Airborne 2025

On Friday evening we kicked off the weekend with “Welcome to Market Garden” (GCB38A1), our opening event in Driel, hosted together with Stichting Driel-Polen — a foundation that has commemorated the 1st Polish Independent Parachute Brigade since 1946.

Saturday, September 27, was the day of the main event, “Sporen van de Bevrijding: Airborne 2025” (GCAFPNH). The doors and box office opened with a special guest, and the event itself kicked off with Adventure Labs, fun competitions, new caches, various shops and activities, including a performance by the Pipes & Drums band. Younger geocachers had their own program with a bingo card full of assignments, a dedicated children's corner, and a coloring contest with a prize ceremony at the end of the day. We gathered for a group photo, held a lottery with great prizes, and closed the doors at the end of a wonderful day.

On Sunday morning we headed out once more for a CITO clean-up event, “Het Drielse Veer CITO” (GCB4Z07), tidying up the surroundings of the spot where Polish paratroopers once attempted to cross the Rhine to reinforce the British Airborne troops.

We said our goodbyes together one last time at “The last post” (GCB4Z0H), gathering at an iconic location on the Airborne side of the river to close the weekend in style.
